From Lanchester it is an easy journey to Durham City (7 miles) and the other popular visitor attractions such as the award winning Beamish Living History Living Museum (4 miles) and Hamsterley Forest (8 miles). You can also go further West and visit the beautiful Durham Dales, the head of the River Wear that meanders through Durham City on its way to Wearmouth on the North East coast.
